About Honky Tonk Music Association
Come into our home, stay awhile, listen to the music, meet the performers and discover the heart behind Honky Tonk Music Association.
The Music Came First
Honky Tonk Music Association is an international, multi-genre music and entertainment organization created to recognize authentic artists, musicians, songwriters, performers and industry professionals whose work deserves to be heard, remembered and preserved.
Our name honors the heart and history of honky tonk, but our doors are much wider. Country, gospel, rhythm and blues, soul, bluegrass, rock, pop, rockabilly, Americana, hip-hop and other musical traditions all have a place when the music carries authenticity, musicianship and heart.
“We aren’t trying to live in yesterday. We simply refuse to forget what yesterday gave us.”
Affinity Publishing Group, Inc.
Affinity Publishing Group, Inc. was founded in 1999 by Angela R. Anderson and incorporated in Tennessee in 2000.
The company grew from experience spanning music publishing, television production, performing, songwriting, information technology, broadcasting, international business and media.
Those experiences became part of the foundation beneath Honky Tonk Music Association: the business experience created the structure, while the music gave it its soul.
Behind Every Song Is a Person
Songs survive generations. They are played again, discovered again, recorded again and passed from one listener to another.
Behind every song is a songwriter, musician, singer or performer whose life and work gave that music meaning.
Honky Tonk Music Association does not want to preserve only the songs. We want to preserve the performers too: their voices, musicianship, stories, performances and the qualities that make somebody recognizable from the first note.
What We Believe
Listen to the Music First
Recognition begins with performance, musicianship, songwriting, interpretation, authenticity and the connection created by the work.
Popularity Is Not Talent
Followers, likes and views may bring visibility, but numbers alone do not determine artistic value or excellence.
Established & Emerging Together
An internationally known artist and a performer being discovered for the first time can stand within the same HTMA awards season.
The World Is Our Stage
HTMA is international by design. Great music does not stop at state lines, national borders or genre labels.
Give Them Their Flowers While They Can Hear the Applause
We believe extraordinary artists should not have to leave this world before people stop and recognize what they contributed.
We want the legendary performer who has entertained people for decades to know that we remember. We also want the unknown artist with an extraordinary voice to know that somebody heard them.
HTMA awards may recognize performances, musicianship, songwriting, broadcasting, lifetime achievement, historical contribution and other areas of excellence.
HTMA Official Awards Registry
The Official Awards Registry is the centralized public historical record of HTMA winners, nominees, honors, recognized performances, songs and other award history.
Additional nominees and winners may be announced during an active awards season, so the registry remains the authoritative source for current HTMA award information.
Enter the Official Awards RegistryOur Doors Are Open to Every Genre
Country music may be part of our heart, but it is not the only music that shaped us.
Country, R&B and gospel were present from the beginning. Along the journey came soul, blues, bluegrass, rock, pop, international performers and music from across generations.
That is why HTMA being an international, multi-genre organization is not an expansion of our identity. It is part of our identity.
We want to introduce audiences to the legendary performer they already love and the unknown artist whose name they may learn today.

Music, media, television, publishing, broadcasting, ministry and creative development working together.
Membership & Participation
Receiving an HTMA nomination or award and becoming a member of Honky Tonk Music Association are separate.
Membership will provide another way for artists, musicians, songwriters, industry professionals, supporters and others to become involved with the developing HTMA community.
The membership system is still being completed. The direct membership link will be added when that site is ready for public use.

Come In. Stay Awhile. Listen to the Music.
Some of the performers you meet here will feel like old friends. Some have given the world music for decades. Some you may be discovering right along with us.
When you hear that one voice, that one musician or that one song that reaches inside and makes you feel something, remember them.
